Matthieu Barret is one of the region's modern stars, farming organically and biodynamically while letting the vineyards do the talking. Petit Ours Rouge is Syrah at its most approachable and energetic. Bursting with blackberry, blueberry and ripe plum fruit, it also carries the classic Rhône signatures of black pepper, violets and a touch of smoky spice. The palate is juicy and vibrant, with silky tannins and plenty of freshness.

Full of character but never heavy, it's equally at home alongside grilled meats, charcuterie or a simple weeknight supper. A modern Rhône red that proves serious wines don't always need to take themselves too seriously.
