Summer Wolff, Vino Rosso Giogio Freisa, Monferrato, Piedmonte, Italy

Summer Wolff  winery is the culmination of decades of dreams, ideas, study, curiosity, travel, failures and successes all coming together. Watching, working with, building and growing a winery together with her husband (west Piedmont) gave her inspiration and motivation. She travelled Europe meeting small, young, and mostly unknown  winemakers and learned about their stories, struggles, and accomplishments. Finally a couple of years ago, with a nudge from her husband, decided it was time to make it. 

Freisa grapes, fermented is stain steel, and kept in concrete for a few months. Bottled without clarification or filtration. This wine is true to its character, direct and easy to drink. We were struck by the energy and purity of it, full of floral notes and spiciness. Combined with the classic Italian antipasti or with veal escalope.
